Our MEÜ Chip Lab Team Took Second Place in the TEKNOFEST 2026 Chip Design Competition

The MEÜ Chip Lab team, founded by students from our university’s Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, achieved a historic success at the TEKNOFEST 2026 Chip Design Competition held in Şanlıurfa from September 30 to October 4, 2026. Competing in the Microcontroller Design Category, our team earned the highest score among participating teams from Turkey, securing first place in Turkey while also taking second place in the overall rankings.
They Successfully Navigated Challenging Stages
Under the guidance of Assistant Professor Dr. Hakan Işıker, the MEÜ Chip Lab successfully completed the evaluation stages—which included challenging components such as design, verification, presentation, demonstration, and chip flow—with a total score of 87.65. Our team—comprising Ahmet Batuhan Şahin, Ayşe Sena Koç, Kubilay Türköz, Ömer Faruk Döngel, and Zerda Gül Havare—successfully represented our university and the city of Mersin with this prestigious achievement.
Having previously won an honorable mention in the same competition, MEÜ Chip Lab took its success to a much higher level this year by securing first place in Turkey and second place in the overall rankings. This result not only highlights our students’ expertise in chip design and microelectronics but also showcases the progress made through consistent efforts over the years.
Our team received its award at the closing ceremony held on Sunday, October 4, from our Vice President, Mr. Cevdet Yılmaz, and TEKNOFEST Board Chairman Selçuk Bayraktar.
