Orientation and "Safe Future" Awareness Training for Students at Silifke Vocational School

An orientation event was held on September 29, 2026, at Mersin University Silifke Vocational School to support students in adapting to university life and to ensure they make a well-informed start to their educational journey. As part of the program, an educational and informational session for students was also organized in collaboration with the Mersin Provincial Security Directorate and the Silifke District Security Directorate.
The orientation program at Mersin University Silifke Vocational School aimed to assist students—particularly those just beginning their university education—in adapting to the higher education environment, to inform them about academic and administrative processes, and to raise their awareness regarding university life.
During the program, students were provided with information on educational processes, academic advising services, course registration and examination procedures, internship practices, student information systems, student rights and responsibilities, facilities offered by the university and the vocational school, and communication channels. At the event, where students' questions regarding the processes they might encounter during university life were answered, emphasis was placed on the importance of effectively utilizing opportunities that support their social and personal development alongside their academic growth.
COMPREHENSIVE INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS FROM LAW ENFORCEMENT UNITS
A key component of the orientation program was an educational and informational event organized in collaboration with the Mersin Provincial Police Department and the Silifke District Police Department.
During the event, NARKO (Anti-Narcotics) and BÖF (Public Order/Prevention) teams provided students with information on combating drugs and addictive substances, the individual and societal impacts of substance abuse, protection against crime and risks, safe living, and precautionary measures to take in the face of potential adverse situations.
The training particularly highlighted the importance of protecting young people from addictive substances, enabling them to recognize risky situations in advance, and ensuring they adopt appropriate behaviors should they encounter such situations.
At the event, where NARKO and BÖF teams also answered students' questions, the significance of awareness, informed behavior, and social responsibility in the fight against drugs and addiction was underscored. The program, which enabled students to communicate directly with expert teams, made a significant contribution to information sharing and raising awareness.
A STUDENT-CENTERED AND SAFE EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT
The orientation and information event held at Silifke Vocational School aimed to raise student awareness not only regarding academic processes but also concerning safe living, personal awareness, and social responsibility.
The program helped students who are new to university life feel like an integral part of the university community; it provided guidance on accessing necessary information from reliable sources and obtaining support from relevant departments for any academic, social, or personal challenges they might encounter.
In line with its student-centered educational philosophy, Mersin University Silifke Vocational School continues to prioritize activities that support students' personal and social development alongside their academic success. Through these orientation and awareness-raising events, students were supported in making a conscious, safe, and strong start to their university life.
Silifke Vocational School aims to continue these initiatives—covering education, information, guidance, and awareness-raising tailored to student needs—throughout the academic year across a variety of topics.
